From the mouth of babes

Last Thursday Rachel and i went to a Stillwaters house church weekly service that meets on campus. It had been a long day and i was debating on going or not, but finally decided to attend. Last semester this church a plenty of problems, but in the midst of it, almost doubled in size with a very young group of leaders.

The student who was to give the sermon was pacing around the room, since this was only his second time to preach. I don’t really know him and didn’t have high expectations on what he would say.

Then he began the message on Ephesian 3. His introduction was not only drawing in the students, but found my heart settling down and ready to be fed. And I was spiritually fed! Not only was he spot on theologically, but connected God’s truth to our present reality. Very Christ focused!

So i assumed he must be one of the very few in Stlllwaters that grew up in an evangelical church, because he really was able to digest and explain the passage. When someone told me that he only became a true believer last year, i was shocked. Surely a new Christian can’t preach like this. Yet, this how the Lord is working in our midst, raising up students who truely love and follow Jesus.

I also found out that this student’s father was in Paris that week for a conference on Oncology and that his mother is a doctor too. Plus he is a candidate for Summa Cum Laude in his course. Imagine, a honor student at the top state school in the country and has time to preach and lead a house church as well as share his faith and disciple others. Image what his life will be 40 years from now.

I love God’s calling for my life and the journey He has set before me.

Is there any way to share his sermon? Was it recorded?
